Habitually working out

Cautiously, I declare myself to have resumed a habit of working out again, finally. Walking up to my car this afternoon, to drive over to the gym, I observed how untimely it seemed to now be feeling some kind of soreness in maybe some muscle in my thigh. Still, I thought I'd try working out anyway and, sure enough, I was able to do what I had planned and I felt no worse for the attempt. This reminds me of how, when I feel somewhat achy, if I work out anyway then it doesn't feel any worse.
Ignore that you feel worse and work out anywayis hardly generally applicable advice to be endorsed by medical professionals but it pleases me that it tends to work in my case.

Date: 2022-02-25 04:37 pm (UTC)I'm down 4 lbs and can more or less hold a conversation while using the elliptical, which is kinda cool. And I'm definitely down at least one pants size.

Date: 2022-02-26 04:59 am (UTC)I read a statistic that when you turn 60, you lose 1% of your muscle mass PER YEAR. And it might have been earlier than that. Well, I turned 60 in December. And my blood pressure has been creeping up of late. I decided I really need to do something about this. A lot of my BP issue is living at high altitude, one of the characteristic body changes thereof. My wife took up working with free weights a few months ago and restricting her calories, using the Noom app, and she's lost 30 lbs and her BP has gone down. I'm not yet at the point of wanting to restrict my calories like that to lose weight further, we'll see what happens in another couple of months.
